Clonie Gowen Sues FullTilt Poker

I read last night from a source, www. poker.com, that FullTilt Poker has decided that Clonie Gowen is not a good representative of their U.S. friendly poker room and has kicked her out.

Cycalona "Clonie" Gowen received notification that Full Tilt would be issuing a press release noting that she was no longer a member of Team Full Tilt, and she has reacted by filing a lawsuit in Nevada against Tiltware for a sum of 40 million dollars .

Clonie admits that no written contract had ever been signed, but that it was a verbal contrat that took place over the telephone and in meetings with executives in Las Vegas in 2004.

This could get nasty if you ask me. I've already been reading rumours that she has a drug problem and that's the reason she's been canned and pictures floating around the net show her looking pretty rough around the edges....... l hope it's not drugs, I hate to see anyone go down that road , and if it is I hope she gets help.

A statement was released by Tiltware in response to the lawsuit:

“Tiltware LLC has been made aware of the recent filing of a meritless lawsuit by a former Full Tilt Poker endorser - Ms. Cycalona Gowen. All claims have no merit and there are many inaccuracies improperly and unlawfully asserted by Ms. Gowen within her frivolous complaint. Tiltware LLC expects that this lawsuit will be dealt with accordingly by a competent court in due course.”

Letter to President Elect Obama on the UIGEA

Yesterday was another bad day for online gamblers and poker players fighting against the UIGEA . Regardless of all the efforts of the Poker Players Allaince and it's members, and the recent news exposing inappropriate influence by the White House,  the current administration finalized the UIGEA regulations to be made effective on January 19th, only the day before President Elect Obama takes office.

Last night when I read this, it sent me into another outrage against President Bush and his cohorts that have been trying to stop folk from using their own funds to gamble in the privacy of their homes. It further sickens me that big time sports, the NFL being one of the strong ones, have been lobbying to get this done.....I could never buy another piece of NFL official merchandise for as long as I live and don't understand how anyone that believes in our freedoms to play online could.

The Poker Players Alliance has not given up by any means on this fight, and I would encourage everyone to join and let your voice be heard . The PPA sent out another newsletter this morning, and in it there is a way to send President Elect Obama a letter to let him know how you feel . Just click Change.gov to send off one yourself.

Here is a copy of what I have sent. I'm not much of a writer, but feel free to use any part of the letter you want . If I receive a reply back, I'll be sure to let everyone know....

Mr. President-Elect Obama,

First I want to congratulate you and Senator Biden on the election. My family and myself are looking forward to you and your administration getting this great country of ours back on the right track.

One thing I and millions of others like me I'm sure would like you to look into is the UIGEA bill that was tacked onto the Port Security Bill back in Oct. of 2006. During the midnight hours I might add. Our friend Senator Frank, along with the Poker Players Alliance has been trying to help folk like me that like to gamble online occasionally in the privacy of our homes get this law repealed.

Once you are in office I am hoping that you will immediately turn back the UIGEA and other "midnight rules" that have been issued by President Bush, and give the millions that like to play poker online back their freedom to use their hard earned money to play if they so choose. It is a crying shame that folk can buy all the porn they want online, but the current administration is trying to say that online poker is not moral . Yet lotteries, horse racing and bingo are all fine ? Something is wrong here....

Sincerely,

Earl XXXXXXXX.

As you can see I'm not fancy with words, I just try to get my point across and hope the right person will see it. Don't just sit around and think that everyone else will do this folk, that you won't make a difference.....That's the wrong attitude to have when trying to get things done.

In the meantime , you can still find me playing online poker at U.S. friendly poker rooms like Carbon Poker that offer me 30% of my rakeback paid daily.

Peter Eastgate wins 2008 WSOP

It was a long wait for the final table known as the November Nine, but the 2008 WSOP winner has now been crowned and it's 22 year old Peter Eastgate . The young man from Denmark defeated Russian Ivan Demidov to become the youngest winner of the WSOP Main Event championship ever !

According to USA Today, As friends from Denmark jumped around and shouted in the seating area, Eastgate displayed hardly a hint of a smile while posing for photos in front of cash piled on the green felt table.

"I guess I haven't really realized how big this is," said Eastgate, who erased the youngest-winner record set by Phil Hellmuth at 24 in 1989. "It will come in the next weeks or the next days. I will become very emotional at some point."

The two-day final table play took 274 hands and 15 hours and 28 minutes play and the total WSOP Main Event winnings for the young pro comes to staggering $9,152,416 in prize money !

The next question I would have is was postponing the final table really worth the wait. I had not heard much at all in the news leading up to the game...and that was supposed to be the reason for the big wait. But then again , with the Presidential Election this year it could have been just a bad year to get the publicity they were expecting . I guess we'll just have to wait and see if it paid off ....

In the mean time I'll be looking forward to see who can maybe win a seat to the Aussie Millions and become the next big time poker winner at the felt !

Microgaming Casinos stop U.S. players

Microgaming Network has pulled the plug on U.S. gamblers for casino play . The newsletter that some of the online casinos sent out says that most of the casinos will continue to let current members to play the casinos, but they will no longer accept new U.S. casino players . That really narrows the field down to what choices the American online gambler has.

There is a rumor going round that Doyles Room just might be moving to Merge Gaming Network so they can retain their US casino player base.  Nothing has been confirmed on this yet though from Doyles or Merge . Merge Gaming already has two of our favourite rooms to play at . For rakeback there's Carbon Poker or for bonus offers there's PDC Poker , so I'm not too certian I want to see them go with Merge. However if they do decide to make that move Doyles Room will be the biggest name on the entire network, and I truly don't think Merge Gaming will ever stop offering U.S. friendly poker AND casino rooms.

While I'm here I also want to remind folk that Nov. 11th is Veterans Day . You can view more on that , as well as the weekly forum news by clicking HOPB News .
